How not to make mistake while conveying mistakes and conveying replies!

Mistakes need to be pointed out, but the manner in which you Point out and the manner in which you React is what gives impression on the Observer’s mind.

There can be two ways you can point out – either in an acceptable way – where you don’t tend to hurt the ego of the other guy or in a manner where you directly hurt his ego.

Point 1 : So taking the case where you point out in an unacceptable way – the case where there are chances that the Reactant’s ego gets hurt in an instant. Now, the person whose mistake is there, i.e. the Reactant, he has to analyze and see as to how to react.
One clarification before I bombard my thoughts. Whether the pointing out method is acceptable way or not depends on Perceptions. But we shall talk on the general front as of now.

Now, if I point out in a way which is generally not acceptable, then, the very first obvious reaction in mind would be of anger and yes of course, we might tend to start defending yourselves, even if we are at fault.

I’d salute the guy who even in such a case doesn’t lose his cool. He must be very wise enough to know that mistakes do happen and criticisms do come. He is adapted to both the acceptable and the unacceptable pointing out methods.
Aah yes! For the above super-wise category, nothing needs to be said and analyzed. Because they are the people who’ll definitely accept their mistakes, if any, in a super bold way. They’ll give unimagined reactions and clarifications to unaccepted pointing out methods.

Coming back to our point of reaction – we get angry in first instance from inside. Fine! That’s natural. Then we can either convert our anger into polite tone and accept the allegation or defend it, as the case may be, or else, we can bluntly and angrily reject the allegation in harsh tone, even if we are at a little fault.

The first one shall earn respect and the second one might harm the perception with which people are looking towards you. Because you might have been cent per cent right on your stand, but your way of reacting might tamper with people’s perception of you.

Okay, now you might say, I don’t give a damn to what people think of me!
Now the catch - Ponder on the thought as to why do I need to even react in such a harsh tone if I think that I don’t give a damn to what people think. Ultimately why you replied harshly was just because the other guy’s thinking mattered to your mind. Isn’t it?

In the first pointing out method, there are chances that the pointer might be 100% right on his point outs, but due to the trigger of ego, the clash starts and the reactant starts defending himself in harsh tones, thereby, at times, triggering the pointer’s ego also.

There can be cases that may be your general tendency isn’t as such that you reply harshly. There can be numerous possibilities where you might have been surrounded with other tensions of this social life and no matter how calm you are in general, you tend to react to such situations in rude way. No problem, happens! Need to be alert!

Now, coming to the polite tone of Reaction - You accept the mistake if it is genuine or you answer back in a befitting manner and in such a way that the other guy feels ashamed of the way he alleged and my dear friend give me a high five for that! You hit the target!
May be, the pointing out person won’t change his method of pointing out and we need to accept his ways, nothing can be done of it. But yes, his perception for you would definitely change. May be he would take care at least the way he’ll tell you the next time and even if he doesn’t, then why to worry! You are a champ in replying. Ultimately, what matters is the way you perceive things.

The pointer perceives negatively, you have two options –

1.1 : You perceive positively and you react politely,
1.2 : You perceive negatively and you react harshly.

Point 2 : Now coming on the acceptable pointing out methods. Well, you are doing your pointing out job with perfect ability. You point out in directional way, not in accusing manner and that shows your wisdom.

In 99% cases, the reactant shall reply politely with acceptance of his mistake, if at all he has committed, or else the case shuts down as it is.

The pointer perceives positively, you have two options –

2.1 : You perceive positively and you react politely,
2.2 : You perceive negatively and you just shut down.

Coming on the third person front, always observe and look through the situations. Never ever perceive in first shot as to what you see! Analyze and then train your mind as to what could have been the best way of tackling during such situations.

Just for observance, check your mind as to whose impression is having a lasting image on your mind.
You’ll see that the 2nd pointwala Pointer shall always have an influencing impression on your mind due to his positive way of pointing out. And the same applies for the 1.1 pointwala Reactant. His cool and ghaatak replies shall surely command our brains because his replies pierce through our minds and force us to think that ‘Oh! Aise bhi hatke reply ho sakte hain kya.. socha nahi tha..!!

Here the reactant plays a major role in relaying positive impression of not only his ideology but indirectly he treats our minds by washing the negative impression of the 1st wala pointer in our minds and thereby our negativity for that guy cools down. So you see, the wise guy plays a dual role here.

Much written, I’ll end and shut down before this write up turns out to be a trigger point of your frustrated reactions.

And yes, ek chokhvat - this is just an analysis on perceptions of Pointers, Reactors and Observers regarding the common human mistakes happening in our day-to-day lives.

Finally, wishing you happy days ahead, that are full of -

Acceptable pointing outs – DO IT – because that is surely needed

Polite Reactions of acceptance or justification – GIVE IT – the way you deem fit

Observations – LOOK THROUGH IT – it will prepare you for the times when you need to point out or react.

Always be grateful towards the Pointers because they are sparing time in analyzing your mistakes and in conveying it also. Needs Guts!

And Mistake is a mistake!
Always accept it, no matter in what way it is conveyed. Needs Guts!

And yes, do see to it that you don't repeat them again and again!

Happy Learning Experiences!

A thank you note, straight from the heart

‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.'
–Dr. Seuss

As the time for changeover has arrived, the feeling of the term getting over encompasses our minds. The journey started almost a year back and time has flown so fast that we didn’t realize that it is time to hand over the charge to the forthcoming Chairman.

But yes, as aptly pointed out in the above quote, we are smiling with utmost satisfaction that we tried to give our best. For us, the journey was worth undertaking. Starting from the point of conceiving an idea, then planning the basics, executing it, running over through the minute details of handling an event, preparing back-up plans, etc., it was an exercise to strain one’s brains to the maximum and evolve out efficiently amidst all the pressures. It was thoroughly an enjoyable journey filled with tensions and reliefs; with learning embedded to the core.

The term saw the start of some unique activities like posting 5-6 words with their meanings everyday on Jamnagar WICASA’s Facebook page. Other endeavors were to start revisionary lectures for the students who were appearing for their exams, conducting study circle meets on Goods & Services Tax, compiling issues on ICDS, preparing a compilation on Suggestions and Observations given by mock test paper Checkers, etc.

On the societal front, the team made its nanoscopic efforts to contribute to the gross national happiness by visiting the old age homes and spending time with the old and lonely on the occasion of Father’s day, distribution of toys & sweets to the hospitalized children on the occasion of Diwali, planting pots on Environment day, etc.

An initiative of starting ‘PROJECT BUDDY’ was taken up on 26th January, 2017, wherein a student who is willing to get a command over his/her weakness can overcome the weakness with the support from a buddy, since we tend to lack self-motivation at times.

Definitely, a journey always has its share of ups and downs, and the same way, we also had our share. Unexpected situations, sometimes, lead to frustration but with conflicts, we evolve, WE GROW & WE LEARN. Thus, it was a journey of self-evolution and of pushing one’s limits by endurance.

Though we six of us (my five teammates and me) are ONE unit for the working of WICASA, but at this juncture, I would like to specifically convey my heartfelt thanks to all five of my flamboyant teammatesJeet, Pooja, Jignesh, Ravina & Dhwani - for constantly withstanding me, my decisions and for being strikingly spirited in conducting all the activities. Kudos to them for making efforts to come out of their comfort zones and for working passionately for the benefit of students fraternity at large. I am sure the journey has been exhaustive; nevertheless, it has been a learning experience for them all. The most onerous duty of a Leader is to cultivate other leaders. I am sure, in these 5, the CA Fraternity will get deserving leaders in times to come.

On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank the Branch pillars - Sanjaybhai and Bhaveshbhai, Branch Managing Committee Members, all Seniors and Contemporaries for guiding us and lending their support whenever and wherever required.

We hope that the trust reposed by you all on this Committee has fetched fruitful and cherishable results and that we have been able to withstand your expectations to a great extent.

With the changeover taking place, I wish the coming Chairman the very best in all his future endeavors.

With utmost gratitude and feeling of satisfaction, I sign off as WICASA Chairperson for the term 2016-17.

A small thank you note!!

Feelings of joy and satisfaction fill my heart on completion of the first ever National Conclave at Jamnagar. This wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts and support of numerous people who made this challenging task of hosting a National Conclave an achievable one.

We are sure that the Conclave served the purpose of being a catalyst in rooting knowledge in our day-to-day lives, and that the theme शिष्योपनयन (Shishyopnayan) shall be imbibed in our lives forever.

Conclave has just changed its form - from a conference it has now changed into the form of knowledge, experiences and memories!!  I am no one to judge whether it was successful or not, but, I can surely say that we gave our best efforts in putting it in the way we thought would give optimum value to the students attending it.

I might have missed protocols somewhere, because deep inside my heart I believed in establishing connections through vibes and not just as a way of formality. But I know that each thing has its own importance when you are on a different platform and so I apologize if I’ve been a cause of dissatisfaction at any moment.

For me, the Conclave was a power pack show of beautiful memories and challenging tasks. The challenging tasks injected in me the adrenaline to come out with something better and to introspect and learn from my mistakes and the beautiful memories gave me the strength to challenge the challenging tasks with positive spirit.

As it is rightly said that, drop by drop a river is formed, similarly, the cumulative efforts of numerous people make a project an executable one. If there was any inconvenience or lacking, fault is all mine, and, for all the moments that may have touched your hearts, credit goes to each and every person who have forgotten themselves and have dived into the sea of hard work just to make this Conclave go smooth and successful.

I, thus convey my heartfelt gratitude, in the form of this short write-up, towards all such students, friends, contemporaries and the seniors who have helped – directly or indirectly - in giving a concrete shape to this Conclave.

With a hope to receive blessings, wishes, guidance in all my future endeavours.

The missing h!!

One ‘h’ that made me realize 3 types of people among the multifarious types.

You must be wondering how can one ‘h’ land you into learning the types of people!! Sounds weird, right!

Wait, till I tell you how!

Though it may seem strange to write a blog on mistakes like this but somehow I got that gut feeling that said, NO, I’d have to have written on this anyhow. And so, here I am penning down my mistake and what I got to learn from it!

I’d written one Communiqué a few days back for one Newsletter in which I had intended to motivate students to gear up for their exams and not demoralize themselves by saying that my this chapter is still left and that is left, etc. etc., which I specifically wrote in hindi that, ‘O mera to kuch nai hua hai.. ye chut gaya hai.. wo chut gaya hai..’

Well, I don’t know how many of your minds flashed that thing. But, yes, one ‘h’ is missing in ‘chhut’ which when missed had a negative meaning attached to it for the people who focused purely on words and not on the intention or the bottom line conveyed in it.

And hence goes the title of today’s blog: ‘the missing h’!!

This one ‘h’ laid bare before me 3 types of people amongst the other types.
One who Criticize, one who Sympathize and one who Channelize.

The Category I are the people who criticize about what went wrong in your wordings, ignoring the bottom lines.

The Category II persons are the ones who know that your intentions are true to the core, but in spite of the fact that there has been some apparent mistake in your wordings, and that, the Category I people are misinterpreting it; they will keep mum and won’t direct you towards that mistake that has been made unknowingly.

And the third and the rarest of the species are the people who Channelize your mind and guide you with affection about the mistake that happened and how to avoid it to happen in future. They are the people who have strong faith in your intentions. They guide you as to how Category I people whose focus is only on words and not the intentions, tend to misinterpret your meanings.

Was thinking to vent out my frustration since few days but here I am today, penning down my thoughts in a composed manner on this auspicious day of Mahavir Jayanti.

Anekant’, a word coined by Mahavir, implies that each mind has its own perception and mentality which is correct from their view point. You can’t justify your views upon them because your views might be wrong from their standpoint.

And so, being a believer in the word ‘Anekant’, I have to ask for forgiveness for the mistake done, forgiving the Category I & II people and thanking the Category III ones, for steering me through my mistakes.

Well, coming to an end, wishing you all a very Happy Mahavir Jayanti.
May the message of ‘Ahimsa’, ‘Kshamabhaav’ & ‘Anekant’ spread in every human being.

Republic Day wishes & a humble vote appeal

With India gaining its Independence in 1947 and the Constitution coming into force on this very day in the year 1950, our motherland has since then steadily stepped towards the path of development, with the speed of growth turning into manifolds in the recent years and thereby emerging out to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

And so is our Jamnagar branch of WIRC of ICAI, which has been instrumental on its path of growth over these years, with many awards to its credit. Change is the law of nature, and hence, on the 6th day of February, 2016, election will be held to hand over the charge to a new committee. I am glad that I am contesting this esteemed election and I am hopeful that the new committee will amplify the growth of the branch to altogether new levels.

If you believe in the power of youth and in their ability to execute work, I would like to request you to vote for the suitable candidates. It is my sincere plea to you, to come and exercise your right, by casting your precious vote.

I solicit the blessings and guidance of the senior members, and the best wishes of my contemporaries; and with all reverence, I urge you all for your invaluable support so that we can concretely move towards being partners in nation building in its true spirit.

With salutes to all the jawans for their undying spirit for our motherland, I wish you all a very Happy Republic Day. May our dear nation, showcase its vibrant culture, its youth potential, its power of democracy in the years that are to come and outshine everyone by accomplishing the Vision 2020 that Dr. Kalam had dreamt for us all.

New Year

With the rise of a new year, we can feel that energy in the air. We all are geared up for the new resolutions, new dreams, that we’ve cherished for ourselves to accomplish this year. As the first day of the year 2016 is coming to an end, my wishes are, that may this excitement stay ignited in our souls for all the coming days so that we can motivate ourselves to stand firm on the promises that we have made to ourselves.

For me it has always been like days come and go. Ye kaam kal kar lungi, and that kal keeps on dragging to the next kal until I get a deadline! And sadly, I keep cheating myself with each passing day. Till how long will this continue? Everyone has that some weakness within them which hinders their path towards mental peace or financial soundness or physical strength or other social issues.

Let that weakness get overpowered this year so that we can emerge as a winner in front of oneself. Self motivation plays an undetachable role during such times helping to invigorate oneself to utilize his efficiency to the best level. May we get that undeterred strength and irresistible force to achieve what we dreamt for ourselves! Let us spare few moments to get online with ourselves and get offline with everything else during that time. Rejoice the moment, to live with the self.

Self development will ultimately lead in nation building. Even small steps like using one bucket of water for cleaning our vehicles instead of wasting three - four buckets, or judiciously using paper which will in turn lead to less cutting of trees, or unknotting polyethylene bags when giving food to cows can result in serving cause of the nation and humanity as a whole. The Iron Man, Sardar had rightly quoted that ‘every citizen of India must remember that he is an INDIAN and he has every right in this country but with certain DUTIES’.

Our salutes to those Jawans who stay awake so that we all can sleep peacefully. The quote ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ by Lal Bahadurji stands true to the core; the two components without whom we can’t imagine the safety of our lives.

With the quotes of these precognitive legends who by their simplicity, honesty and principles laid before us the united India, let us all arise and awake to relive those dreams which Dr. Kalam dreamt for India in 2020.

In the end, I would say that may each Indian recognize the voice of his soul, make hard work his companion and with these wishes, wishing you all a very happy new year!

Jai Hind!

Guru Purnima

Couldn’t gather a few words to write a crisp note and put a status update on Facebook, so, here I am - with the twilight setting in – writing a blog to thank all the wonderful people who have been a part of my journey over these years. It couldn’t be a better day than this to write on this auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima. From my Grandfather till my younger brother, my relatives, school mates, music and drawing colleagues, theatre team, my CA fraternity, and each and every person who has touched my life directly or indirectly with their positive aura and have inspired me throughout my life. It can be for years, months, even a single day or an hour or just a couple of minutes.. Words can’t suffice to thank you all enough for guiding me through your experiences.

A Badawala thanks for whatsoever moments I got to share with you - from an ephemeral one or to a lasting one.
Thank you for showing me my mistakes..
Thank you for giving me strength when I was demotivated..
Thank you for each moment that you spared from your precious time to nurture me..
Thank you for everything..

Whatever is good in me is because of the inputs from you all. And what is bad is of course my very own fault for not implementing the good things that I’ve learnt in spite of knowing it. But yes, as Wordsworth has quoted – To begin, begin – that needs to be imbibed.

My heartfelt pranam to all the elders and a tight handshake to all the contemporaries who have inculcated the good in me.

And of course, I can’t end up without asking for forgiveness, if anytime, I may have hurt you by my words or actions. Will always be looking forward for the perennial flow of inspiration from you all.

“Wishing a very Happy Guru Purnima”
